Apparently I’m Boring & Unattractive.

by Ed on 5th November 2007

Somebody ‘unsubscribed’ from my blog on Friday.

That’s uncommon. I get lots of [new] subscribers signing up each week, but relatively few (if any) unsubscribers.

So I always sit up and take notice when anyone unsubscribes. Especially because when anyone unsubscribes they get the chance to tell me why.

Sometimes those comments are really helpful. They make me blog better. However, yesterday the person who unsubscribed simply left the following parting comments…

“Unattractive and boring”.

OK, those comments are not very helpful… but that wasn’t my first thought.

My first thought was…

S A Y W H A T ! ? ! ?

Boring? Am I really? Hopefully my friends don’t think I’m boring… and I have it on very good authority (OK, my wife) that I’m attractive. :-)

So he was (hopefully) talking about my blog.

The strange thing is… the day he unsubscribed, I’d just given away a web script. For free. Did you see that? It was in a link at the end of my last post.

If you didn’t see the link, or realise what it was, let me explain so you don’t miss it…

That little script can be the difference between 100% Internet Business Automation, or being chained to your desk at a specific date and time.

How? Well it allows you to run 24 hour specials (or any ‘XX’ hour specials) on your blog (a VERY powerful strategy… it’s how I make most of my money through this blog) and at the end of the special, have the price automatically increase to full price.

Dr. Martin Russell got that. Check out his comments.

He commented that being able to automate price increases at the end of 24 hour specials was literally the final element in him being able to 100% automate his blog marketing. (I suspect that like mine, his blog is the hub of his online marketing operations.)

On the subject of ‘unatrractive (blog)’…

Yes, I agree with my unsubscriber… this site isn’t ‘exciting’ or contain any fancy ‘branding’. (Maybe I’ll play around with the graphic design some day, but it’s definitely not a priority.)

Helping you, my reader/business owner most definitely is a strong priority… and that goal can only be achieved by providing quality content (blog posts) as frequently as I can.

If you get excited about the prospect of discovering ways of selling more online and exploding your customer base by hundreds of percent in just a few days or less, of scientifically optimising your marketing strategy and blogging as a means of growing a business… then I welcome you to stay subscribed.

If not, or you simply think I’m a boring bugger or unattractive then feel free to unsubscribe any time… (but “Shhhshhh…… don’t tell my wife”.)

Yours interestingly,
Ed.

PS. Comments are open. Click the ‘comment’ link below and leave me a note… how do you find this blog?

And if I don’t get ANY comments then I’ll assume you all LOVE this blog to bits, and can’t get to sleep at night in anticipation of my next post.

Or maybe you think it is boring. If so, please leave a comment and tell me to buck my ideas up! (And helpfully tell me how.)

For example am I covering topics that interest you? Or do you want a change of tack?

(Most recently the focus has been on creating video based information products to grow your front-end business customer and client base and earn extra money online… and also the topic of blogging itself. In both cases I’ve also backed up my free blog posts with two… if I may say so… exceptional products.)

What topics do you want more of? What do you want less of?

I look forward to hearing from you in the comments… or vote your 100% unconditional love of this blog by staying silent.

    Dear Ed,

Your blog is very attractive and (if your wife is out of earshot) so are you.

  • http://www.thekaizenbusiness.com Jim

Hmm… You actually read those? I did for the first time ever today. Bla, I wouldn’t worry about it too much. At least its good fodder for a blog post.

    Hi Ed,

Well this post was exciting – I actually noticed the Paypal script thingie lol!

Joking aside, Just carry on supplying ‘boringly profitable’ advice. Works for me…

(The ‘Net is a big place and there is tons of info to distract and entertain. Only ‘serious’ business people need apply).

    regards,
    mark

Hi Rosemary, maybe I should change this blog into a dating site? (And from this comment you can probably guess my wife doesn’t read my blog often :-) )

Jim, you’re right on both counts. Yes, I should ignore unsubs. And yep, it did give me an easy blog topic yesterday! :)

Mark – thanks for the comments. I’m guessing you know how to implement the script, but if anyone else has a problem getting it to work (or doesn’t really know what it does) then comment on the blog here and I’ll make a quick tutorial video for it.)

    Thanks.

You ask “Am I covering topics that interest you?” Well, yes, and here’s a topic suggestion. For on-line businesses that already accept credit and debit cards (and have low commission rates for doing so with their bank) would you recommend that they also accept Paypal?

  • http://edrivis.com Ed

Hi Adam, thank you for the topic suggestion.

That’s a REALLY important subject you hit on, because the answer isn’t only about commission — it’s about business models, optimising cost of production, product launch strategy and ultimately lifestyle design!

I look forward to covering this in detail next week.

As a way of thanking you for the great suggestion I’ll contact you (using the e-mail address you posted this comment with) — I’m going to send you a gift!

    Thanks,
    -Ed.

    Ed,

I only became aware of your blog because you called me out a few months ago when I had to reveal a bunch of things people don’t know about me if you recall.

I didn’t put your blog on my blogroll for no reason. My blogroll is for my blog readers but it’s actually also for me. Not everyday, but about once a week I’ll go to my blog and just click on all the links to blogs in my blogroll to read all the posts.

In the last week I got that 24 hour script you were giving away and finally learned how to create a DVD which I already told you about. The bottom line is I’m a fan of your blog.
