If you visit a lot of blogs like EdRivis.com you may have noticed a small orange icon like this RSS icon, or a button with the word ‘RSS’ in it.

Those icons give you the ability to subscribe to the blog and automatically receive fresh content — soon after it’s added — and directly to your computer or into a web browser.

Meaning you don’t even have to visit this blog in future to stay informed of the very latest ideas and techniques for using the Internet to increase your small business sales and profits.

How to Get Started

All you need is a small piece of software called an RSS Reader and then you’re up and running.

Best of all – unless you go for a premium service, RSS readers are free – like FeedReader for example.

There are two types of readers available, the one you choose depends on your circumstances. If you work in front of a computer all day then you’ll probably go for a desktop software news reader. I use one called Newsgator which integrates directly into my email software.

If you’re frequently on the move you can also subscribe to online RSS newsreader services that allow you to connect through any standard web browser wherever you are in the world.

In a nutshell, RSS technology saves you time and keeps you informed of critical updates to both EdRivis.com and many other web sites.

It’s worth your time to check out RSS because it could well be a critical addition to your own small business web strategy in future. (And of course I’ll explain exactly how that is so in a future blog entry!)

Happy RSS’ing!
